Holiday Gift Guide by Chef Jorge
The holidays are here, and now is about the time we usually find ourselves scrambling around town or online for that one unique gift. I, for one, always find myself not knowing what to gift because I want it to be meaningful rather than expensive and useless. Luckily, most of my friends either like to cook, like to eat, like to take pics of their food, or like me…all the above.
So, I decided to create this Holiday Gift Guide featuring some fun and useful ideas for the Chef or Foodie in your world.
I personally use these products in my home and love that each one meets the mark for everyday use and high quality, from knives to flavorful spices – they are all Chef approved 👨🏽🍳✔️
Happy Shopping! 🎁
KITCHEN TOOLS - There are many options for knives out there, from fancy and expensive ones to some that are just low cost but not of really good quality. I’m aiming for the home cook that deserves quality and longevity at an affordable price. A good cook must own a good knife!
BAR TOOL - I love using this for a smoky old fashioned or mezcal cocktail. What’s even cooler is that you can use this with food, such as cheese platters and charcuterie boards, smoking a ceviche or a smoked ice cream. This gift is for the home cook that’s on the verge of show stopping his/her guests.
COOKBOOK - Anthony Bourdain is one of the most famous and loved chefs worldwide. This is the first book I owned when I started my culinary career, while it’s not a cookbook but rather an expose of the “underbelly” of the restaurant world, it’s a fun read that gives you a little bit of street-cred in the kitchen. This book is a must have for any foodie in your life!
KITCHEN TOOLS - This has got to be one of my favorite kitchen tools! It’s the least expensive gift that will be used often, that’s if you love garlic, which I do. It’s so convenient to use, easy to store and clean. Trust me, this is a kitchen must have.
KITCHEN APPAREL - An apron is the universal kitchen apparel that says, “let’s get cooking”, so do it in style and comfort.
OUTDOOR GRILLING - For the pizza maker at heart or the weeknight pizza party hero, this oven is the bomb. Easy to set up and portable, this oven produces a high temperature and wood fire flavor that is hard to recreate unless you have a brick oven in your backyard. It’s a fun outdoor cooking toy (I mean oven) for the Chef that loves to be outside cooking with the elements.
FLAVOR ENHACERS - Flavor is important and if you have none in your pantry then most likely you won’t have any in your food. This is a great time to stock up on some unique spices and rubs.
KITCHEN TOOLS - This is a fun and useful tool for grilling or cast-iron oven cooking. The retractable claw makes it so easy to move hot pans from surface-to-surface and cooking with cast-iron always feels so timeless. I recently cooked a delicious dish with the Talon Claw Cookware - WATCH HERE
